DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) - The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office is asking the community to help bring Christmas joy to children overseas by donating items for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes throughout October. The effort is part of Operation Christmas Child, a project that collects gift‑filled shoeboxes for children in need around the world. Deputies are inviting community members to give small toys and stuffed animals, school supplies, hygiene items, clothing and accessories, balls and outdoor toys, crafts and puzzles, books and other appropriate gifts.Officials say every donated item will help fill shoeboxes that are sent to children who may have very little, with the goal of sharing “love, hope and Christmas joy” and reminding them that they are not forgotten.Donations can be dropped off at the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office.
